The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued OM dated 21st July 2025 to indicate compliance required for solar inverters and communication devices to be used under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY). Government has indicated with the increased deployment of solar inverters under the mentioned flagship scheme, monitoring & storage of data have become a sensitive issue.
Generation, consumption & control of these monitoring devices currently lies with the OEMs which are mainly overseas. This move will help the Indian consumers to restrict their usage data inside Indian borders. MNRE have also issued the draft guidelines for the remote monitoring systems (RMS) for these inverters to centralize the data log. However, the effective implementation date is yet to be notified by MNRE.
