The 56th Meeting of the GST Council held at New Delhi on 3rd September 2025. After a long waited list for revised GST rates in the country has been finalized by GST council. It has been indicated to reduction of GST slab for Solar Panels and Solar Cells to be reduced from current 12% to 5% slab now.
In the retail segment it will save approx. Rs.1,200 to Rs.1,500 per kW on the solar panels. Other system related component level taxes are unclear as of now, however considering the tax saving at the end will maximise to Rs.1,500 to Rs.1,600 per kW. It will also vary with the type of systems but savings on single component side will remains the same.
The new GST rates are proposed to be implementing from 22nd September 2025.
